The LSU Alumni Association Hall of Distinction was held on April 18 honoring seven inductees plus the Young Alumnus of the Year and the Alumnus of the Year. (See page 14) Induction into the Hall of Distinction is our highest honor. The event of the year was well attended by friends of the honorees, alumni, University officials and guests.
April was a very busy month for chapter programs with meetings in Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Tampa Bay, Dallas, Pensacola, Destin, Orlando, Houston and Ft. Worth. Information regarding LSU and the crawfish boil were the main items of interest at these events.
In May the 50th Anniversary Reunion was held for the class of 1958 as part of the Golden Tigers weekend. The highlight of the reunion for the attendees was to participate in the graduation ceremony wearing their glowing gold caps and gowns.
As the month came to a close, we were in San Diego for the 20th anniversary of the San Diego Chapter Crawfish Boil. A capacity crowd of 3,000 attended the event at the San Diego Chargers football practice facility.

The Cook Hotel is moving forward with the installation of plasma HDTV in each room shortly after mid-year. According to reports from the industry, the price of plasma sets will decrease, making them more affordable. By the time you visit us again, these televisions will have been installed.
Another highlight of the spring was the hiring of Athletic Director Joe Alleva from Duke University and men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson from Stanford University. We wish them well as they carry forward the best traditions of LSU athletics.
P.S. Contributions to the LSU Alumni Association, LSU Foundation and the Tiger Athletic Foundation all count toward the goal of the Forever LSU Campaign.
